Inspiration
We wanted to make an app that was easy for elderly people to use, but asking them questions on the main screen that pointed them to parts of the app that would benefit them. We included a couple mind games, like a matching game and a riddle section to keep the minds of our old friends active. There is a slide with a couple peaceful noise files to help them fall asleep, and there is a page with emergency information just in case.
What it does
Display information and quick games in an easy to understand and simple way.
How we built it
Using swift and xcode.
Challenges we ran into
Our team member Pranav did loads of work on reasearch with the Watson API, and we were one line of code from making it work. XCode (which if you have experience with it you know its short comings) had a major bug related to importing the file needed, and after hours of work amongst ourselves and tons of time with the mentor, we couldn't get it to work. Another challenge we encountered happened when one of the mentors was trying to install an old version of xcode to see if it would work. In purge deleting that version of xcode, our asset files were deleted as well. About 20 images and 4 mp3s were gone.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making this app in such a short amount of time.
What we learned
Using version control. Have multiple versions of your files.
